Gel Polish Removal with Soak-off Clips

  1. File off the Top Coat

  The first thing you should do when you start removing your Gel Polish is to file off the top layer. You can either use a hand file with 100/180 grit or our Electric Nail File with a Mandrel Bit and a Sanding Band in the same grit, depending on your preference. It is important that you file in one direction only instead of back and forth.

  At a minimum, you must file through your Top Coat so our Gel Remover can penetrate the product. However, it is important that you do not file through all the products and hit your natural nail.

  A good rule of thumb is: the more of the product you file off, the less time it takes for our Gel Remover to work. But be careful not to file all the way through the product and hit your own nail. Take your time, and feel free to take short breaks along the way to check how much of your Gel Polish you have removed. Better a little too cautious than too eager.

  2. Soak-Off

  After filing off the top layer of the product, start by applying cuticle oil around the edge of the nail. This protects your cuticles from drying out due to the acetone in our Gel Remover.

  When you are ready to apply your Soak-Off Nail Clips, soak a lint-free pad with our Gel Remover and place it under a nail clip on your nail. Make sure the nail’s surface is covered by the soaked lint-free pad and that the nail clip fits tightly around the tip of your finger.

  Let them sit for 10 minutes. It is best to remove one nail clip at a time to avoid your Gel Polish hardening again while you are still removing the product from another nail.

  3. Wait 10 minutes

  After 10 minutes, you can open your Soak-Off Nail Clips and check if your Gel Polish has loosened enough for you to gently push it off. If not, you need to soak your nail again. Do this by soaking your lint-free pads again and applying them to the nails once more. Start with a few extra minutes and then check again.

  For an added benefit, you can place a warm towel over your hands while wearing the Soak-Off Clips. This gives you the full at-home spa experience! In addition, the warmth from the towel also creates the best conditions for the Gel Remover to work optimally. To warm the towel, place it on a radiator for a few minutes or put it in the dryer if you are already doing laundry.

  Push off your Gel Polish

  After waiting 10 minutes – or until you can see that your Gel Polish has lifted from the nail – you can gently push it off with an orangewood stick or our cuticle pusher. It is important not to press too hard on the nail plate but instead make sure that your Gel Polish has loosened enough to be easily removed with gentle movements. Be careful with your nails so they can continue to grow long and beautiful!

  5. Remove residue

  After removing your Gel Polish, there may still be some small residue left on the nail. You can easily remove it by simply buffing your nail with our buffer. This will leave you with a completely smooth and clean nail plate, ready for a new product or to shine as beautiful natural nails!

  6. Apply cuticle oil

  Wash your hands thoroughly, and then apply cuticle oil. Massage the oil in both around the cuticles and under the nails for maximum care.

  Cuticle oil provides your nails with the nourishment they need to stay strong and healthy. It prevents dryness, promotes healthy growth, and keeps your cuticles soft and well-groomed, so your hands always look beautiful and well cared for.
