We have put together a guide to three different methods for creating a classic French tip. Step by Step

  • 1. Step Prep (før Gel Polish)

    1. Prepare your nail

When applying Gel Polish, it is important to prepare your nail thoroughly to achieve both a beautiful and long-lasting result. Good preparation is essential for the durability of your manicure, so prep will become your new favorite step. You can find our full guide on how to prep your nails in our guide universe.

But if you are experienced in doing nails, you know the routine: Wash hands, cuticle pusher, cuticle nipper, buffer, wipe with Cleanser, PH-Bond, Primer.

  • 2. Base Coat (before nail art)

    2. Apply Base Coat

Start by applying a thin layer of Base Coat to the nail. Make sure there is not too much product on the brush, place the brush head in the middle of the nail, and push the product down toward the cuticle while keeping the brush almost flat along the nail plate. Then pull the product up along each side of the nail to the tip, where you seal the product.

It is important that your Base Coat comes close to both the base and sides of the nail without touching the skin around it. If you accidentally touch the surrounding skin or your cuticles, remove it before curing the product.

For this, you can advantageously use one of our Micro Brushes dipped in Cleanser to remove the product.

Let your Base Coat cure under our UV/LED lamp for 60 seconds.

Note that the Base Coat leaves a sticky layer after curing, this is completely normal and must not be removed or touched.

  • 3. Gel Polish before nail art

    3. Apply your gel Polish

Once you have applied your Base Coat, it is time to apply your Base Color. This can be a Rubber Base, Liquid Builder, Polygel, or Gel Polish. In this guide, we will focus on Gel Polish. Before opening the bottle, it can be a good idea to roll it between your palms. We have designed the bottle so that it is easy and comfortable to roll in your hands. This ensures that the pigments are evenly distributed in the bottle. It is important not to shake the product, as this can create air bubbles in your Gel Polish, which may become visible on the nail.

The consistency of your Gel Polish may vary slightly depending on the color, as the more pigmented shades can be a bit thicker. Apply your Gel Polish in the same way as your Base Coat. Start by applying a thin layer of Gel Polish on the nail. Make sure there is not too much product on the brush, and place the brush head in the middle of the nail. Press the product down toward the cuticle while keeping the brush close to the nail plate. Then pull the product along the sides of the nail toward the tip, and seal it.

It is important that your Gel Polish comes close to both the base and sides of the nail without touching the skin around it. Once your Gel Polish is applied as desired, cure it in our UV/LED lamp for 60 seconds. You can advantageously work one nail at a time and flash-cure it for 10 seconds, then finally cure all nails for 60 seconds. This prevents the product from running while you are working on your nails.

If you want a more pigmented look, you can apply several layers. Remember, it is better to apply four paper-thin layers than two thick ones. It is important to cure each layer for 60 seconds in our UV/LED lamp.

  • French Nail Stamp

    Nail Stamp

When creating a French tip with our Nail Stamp, start by applying a thin layer of Gel Polish to your Nail Stamp. It is important that the layer is not too thick, as this will result in too thick of a layer on the nail.

Once you have applied Gel Polish to your stamper, gently press your nail down into the stamp and carefully pull it back. It is important not to place your nail in the middle of the product on the stamp, as this can cause product to get under your nail and potentially touch the skin beneath it. Instead, you should place your nail at the bottom of the Gel Polish applied to your Nail Stamp.

After pressing the nail into the middle of the stamper, tilt your stamp to each side of the nail to create a nice curve. In other words, press the nail into the stamper first in the center, then angle it out to each side. Be careful not to touch the skin around the nail.

If you are not completely satisfied with the shape, you can correct it with a liner brush. Once you are happy with the shape, cure the French tip for 60–90 seconds in our UV/LED lamp.

  • french tips liner brush

    Liner Brush

When creating a French tip with a Liner Brush, start by dipping your Liner Brush into the desired color. You can easily do this by dipping your brush into the product on the Gel Polish brush or by placing a small amount of the desired color onto a Nail Art Palette.

You can advantageously begin by making a small mark in the middle of your nail where you want your French tip to be. This makes it easier to draw lines on the sides that meet at the mark you made in the middle.

You can then adjust the shape as you like with your Liner Brush. Once the shape is as you want it, simply fill in the area toward the edge and seal at the tip. When you are satisfied with the shape, cure the French tip for 60–90 seconds in our UV/LED lamp.

  • french tips French Nail Stickers

    French Nail Stickers

When you want to create a French tip with our French Nail Stickers, start by removing the sticky layer left behind from your Gel Polish. Then apply one of our French Nail Stickers to your nail. If you find it a bit difficult to get it straight, you can focus on placing the center of your French Nail Sticker at the point where you want the center of your French tip to be.

Once you’ve placed your sticker, press it firmly into place. Then you can easily apply your desired color to the tip of your nail.

After applying the color, remove your French Nail Sticker. If any Gel Polish has seeped under your sticker, you can remove it with a brush or a Micro Brush and our Cleanser before curing your nail in our UV/LED lamp for 60-90 seconds.

    5. Apply Top Coat

No matter which method you use, you finish the same way by applying a Top Coat to seal your design. This is done the same way as your Base Coat and Gel Polish. Your Top Coat also needs to cure for 60-90 seconds in our UV/LED lamp.

Our Top Coat does not leave a sticky layer at the end, so once you’ve applied your Top Coat, your nails are done. For an extra touch, you can apply a bit of cuticle oil around the edges.

Now comes the hardest part: where should you share your new nails first? Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook? We can’t wait to see the result!
