Removal of Gel Polish with an Electric Nail File

Step by step guide

The first thing you need to do when removing your products with our electric nail file is to choose the right bit for removing the product you are wearing.

For removing Gel Polish, the gentler bits are best suited. All the recommended bits are listed below.

To attach your chosen bit, turn the shaft of the electric nail file to the left until you hear a click, and to lock the bit in place, turn it to the right. It is very important that your electric nail file is not turned on while changing bits.

    1. Start filing off your Gel Polish

Once you have attached the desired bit, carefully begin filing off the product. We recommend using a Mandrel Bit with a 180 grit Sanding Band for removing Gel Polish.

When removing your Gel Polish with our electric nail file, it is important that you never file all the way down to your natural nail, as you risk damaging it. Take your time and feel free to pause along the way to check how much Gel Polish you have removed. Better a little too cautious than too eager!

That is why it is important to keep a light and gentle hand when using our electric nail file. Do not press the nail file down onto the nail. Instead, start at a low speed and let the electric nail file glide across the nail until you get to know your machine.

    2. Remove the product around the cuticle area

Remove the product from top to bottom – from the cuticle to the tip of the nail. It is important to keep the file moving at all times. Never let the file run over the same spot, as this can cause damage to the nail and even burn the nail plate.

Along the way, you can switch bits if you want to get closer to the nail sides. We recommend using our Diamond Bit – Cone-Shaped, Medium if you are experienced with an electric nail file. If you are still new to using an electric nail file, we recommend removing the product closest to your cuticles with a handheld nail file. Once you feel comfortable switching to the electric nail file, it is important to start slowly so you can get to know the machine.

    3. Remove the remaining Gel Polish

We recommend switching to a Mandrel Bit with a 240 grit Sanding Band once you have removed the first layers of product or need to work close to the cuticle, at the base, and along the edge of your natural nail, as this is the finest sanding band.

It is important that you never hold your electric nail file still in the same spot on the nail, or move it back and forth over the nail. Instead, move it in one direction, lift it off the nail, and then move it in the same direction again.

    4. Remove any residue

Once you have removed your Gel Polish and the excess dust from your nails, there may still be a few small traces left. You can easily remove these by simply buffing the nail with our buffer.

This leaves you with a smooth and clean nail plate – ready for a new product or to shine with beautiful natural nails! Wash your hands thoroughly, and then apply cuticle oil. Massage the oil in around the cuticles and under the nails for maximum care.

Cuticle oil gives your nails the nourishment they need to stay strong and healthy. It prevents dryness, promotes healthy growth, and keeps your cuticles soft and well cared for – so your hands always look beautiful and well-groomed.
