    1. File off your product

The first thing you should do when you start removing your tips is to file off the top layer of product. The amount of product that is filed off depends on which products you have applied to your tips. If you have a strengthening product on such as Polygel, Liquid Builder Gel, or another reinforcing product, you should file off 80% of the product before you begin soak off. If you have only applied Gel Polish on top of your tips, you should file off the Top Coat and the top layer of color.

A good rule of thumb is: the more of the product you file off, the shorter the time it takes for our Gel Remover to work. But be careful not to file all the way through your Base Coat and hit your natural nail. Take your time, and feel free to take short breaks along the way to check how much of the product you have removed. Better a little too cautious than too eager.

If you only have Gel Polish on top of your tip, you can for example use the 100 side of a 100/180 grit file or an electric nail file with a Sanding Band with grit 120 or higher. If you have a reinforcing product on, we recommend that you use a ceramic bit such as Ceramic Fine Flame ST 3/32 for your electric nail file. Alternatively, you can use a Sanding Band with grit 100 to 180 if that feels more comfortable.

It is difficult to say which bit is best for removing the product, as it depends on your skill level. If you are brand new to the electric nail file, we recommend starting at a low speed with a Sanding Band bit, as it mimics a handheld nail file. If you are a bit more experienced, you can try a fine ceramic bit and from there work your way up. Take your time at the beginning so you learn it and do not end up damaging your beautiful nails.

    2. Soak Off

After filing off the top layer of product, start by applying Cuticle Oil around the edge of the nail. This protects your cuticles from drying out from the acetone in our Gel Remover.

When you are ready to apply your Foil Wraps, soak the cotton side thoroughly with our Gel Remover and place it on each of your nails. It is important that they are positioned so the entire nail is in contact with the soaked cotton in the Foil Wrap. Close your Foil Wraps around the nail by folding the sides tightly around the finger and finally folding the top, so the Foil Wrap seals closely around your nail.

    3. Wait 15 minutes

Once you have applied your Foil Wraps, they should stay on for 15 minutes. The product can harden again if you do not push off the loosened product right away. Therefore, it is best to remove one Foil Wrap at a time to avoid the product hardening again while you are removing it from another nail.

After 15 minutes, you can open your Foil Wraps and check if your tip has loosened enough to be gently pushed off. If not, you will need to soak your nails again. In that case, re-soak your Foil Wraps and apply them to the nails once more. Start with a few extra minutes and then check again.

For an added benefit, you can place a warm towel over your hands while wearing the Foil Wraps. This gives you the full at-home spa experience! In addition, the warmth from the towel will also create the best conditions for the Gel Remover to work optimally. To warm the towel, you can place it on a radiator for a few minutes or toss it in the dryer if you are already doing laundry.

    4. Push off the product

After waiting 15 minutes, you can gently push off the product with an orange stick or our cuticle pusher. It is important not to press too hard on the nail plate, but instead make sure the product has loosened enough to be removed easily with gentle movements. Be careful with your nails so they can continue to grow long and beautiful!

    5. Remove any residue

After you have gently pushed off the product, there may still be some small residues left on the nail. If there is a lot of product remaining, you should soak your nail again. If only a few residues are left, you can use the 220 side of a 180/220 grit file for a gentler removal. Finally, simply buff your nails with our buffer. This will leave you with a smooth and clean nail plate – ready for a new product or to shine as beautiful natural nails!

    6. Apply cuticle oil

Wash your hands thoroughly, then apply cuticle oil. Massage the oil in both at the cuticles and under the nails for maximum care. Cuticle oil provides your nails with the nourishment they need to stay strong and healthy. It prevents dryness, promotes healthy growth, and keeps your cuticles soft and well cared for – ensuring your hands always look beautiful and well-groomed.
